In my humble opinion cleaning your house in the summer does require a dedicated team of professional maids. It's just too busy, and keeping those fruit flies out of your kitchen and bathrooms can get really frustrating. But worry not. Here are some summer residential house cleaning tips from some of the best maid cleaners in the GTA.

1. Keep all garbage can lids closed. If you don't have a proper clean garbage can lid then you should buy a new one. Your maid service will tell you; if you don't have a proper lid on your garbage, in only a couple of days that old chicken you didn't give to the dog turns into a harvest of young fruit and house flies. That is not clean!
2. Keep those doors and windows closed. There's no other sure fire way to keep your house clean by keep dirty flies and other insects where they belong. Outside! A maid service with experience will tell you: flys lay eggs in microwaves, on fruit, in your cupboards - anywhere they can find that has not been cleaned for a long time and has built up dirt and bacteria. Aa we know from the previous chapters on cleaning your home, these are the things that cause alergies and the like in adults and children.
3. Use the air conditioner in your car and home and keep your windows closed to keep the pollen out. Clean air conditioning units often to prevent mold growth. Avoid windy weather. It can aggravate allergies
4. Wash hands often and rinse eyes with cool water after coming indoors to remove clinging pollen. Wash hair at night to prevent pollens from getting into bedding.
5. Dust mites are microscopic creatures that live in bedding, mattresses, upholstered furniture and carpets. They are the most common cause of symptoms for perennial allergy sufferers.
   • Cover mattresses and box springs with allergen impermeable plastic casings that can be removed and cleaned frequently.
   • Limit the number of stuffed animals kept in bedrooms.
   • Remove dust-collecting items
   • Remove carpet from the bedroom, if possible; if not, vacuum once or twice a week.
   • Wash bedding and stuffed animals in hot water (130°F) weekly .
   • Use air conditioning to keep humidity low to slow down dust mite growth during warm weather.
   • Clean or change air conditioner and furnace filters often.
6. Molds are commonly found in outdoor air, and they come in any time you open a door or window. Any house can develop a mold problem given the right conditions. Molds require two factors to grow indoors: (1) free moisture that can occur in the form of relative humidity above 50 percent, leakage from pipes or foundations, or any ongoing source of water; and (2) something to grow on. Molds particularly like to grow on wallboard, wood or fabrics, but will grow virtually any place if they are given a chance
7. While pets are often important members of a household, they can cause problems for owners who are allergic. Allergic reactions to pets are caused primarily by the animal's dander and short-haired pets are not any less likely to cause an allergic reaction than long-haired animals. For people with allergies to animals, it is best not to own a pet. Determined pet owners, however, should:
   • Keep the pet outdoors or limit to a few rooms in the house. At the very least, pets should be kept outside of the bedroom.
   • Wash hands after petting.
   • Bathe pet once a week to reduce dander.
   • Use central air cleaners to remove pet allergens in the home.
